The Bangladesh Film Institute Alumni Association (BFIAA) is the official alumni body of the Bangladesh Film Institute (BFI), founded in 2005 by acclaimed filmmaker and author Tanvir Mokammel.
BFIAA was established to bring together the growing family of BFI graduates — filmmakers, cinematographers, editors, producers, and film enthusiasts — who have been shaped by Bangladesh's most dedicated institution for cinema education.
Over two decades, BFI has produced over 1,000 graduates across 86+ batches. The Alumni Association serves as the living thread that keeps this community connected through biennial conferences, Uralchitra magazine, Cine Club Adda film screenings, and cultural programmes.

"A renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker, author, and the guiding force behind the Bangladesh Film Institute."
Tanvir Mokammel has profoundly shaped the landscape of independent cinema in Bangladesh. He has directed eight fiction films and seventeen documentaries, earning ten National Film Awards for his exceptional contribution to Bangladeshi culture.
Beyond filmmaking, he is a prolific writer with twenty-eight published books, including novels, essays, and poetry. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to art and culture, he was awarded the prestigious Ekushey Padak. Currently, he serves as Director of BFI.

Presided over by outgoing President Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, with BFI Director Tanvir Mokammel as Chief Guest. The conference presented honorary crests to veteran BFI teachers, conferred certificates upon Online Filmmaking Course graduates, screened 9 student films, and unanimously formed the 21-member Executive Committee headed by Shahina Hafiz Daisy.

"A landmark gathering uniting pioneering graduates, filmmakers, and faculty to forge the 2019–2021 Advisory & Executive Councils."
Presided over by President Imtiaz Pavel and moderated by Sagir Mostafa. BFI Director Tanvir Mokammel graced the historic gathering as Chief Guest. The assembly established the 7-member Advisory Council and elected the 23-member Executive Council headed by Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Hossain.

In March 2023, the Bangladesh Film Institute Alumni Association (BFIAA) successfully hosted a monumental three-day retrospective festival to honor three decades of independent cinema by eminent filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel. This historic gathering featured screenings of seven of his most acclaimed documentaries, an exclusive Masterclass on the "Art of Documentary", a special "Meet the Director" session celebrating his birthday, and the official release of the Uralchitra Special Edition.

বিএফআই এলামনাই এসোসিয়েশনের উদ্যোগে ২০২৪ সালের ৯ই ফেব্রুয়ারি মেঘনা নদীর মোহনায় আয়োজিত হয় মনোজ্ঞ বার্ষিক বনভোজন। বিএফআই-এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও পরিচালক তানভীর মোকাম্মেল, শ্রদ্ধেয় শিক্ষকবৃন্দ, কার্যনির্বাহী পরিষদের সদস্য এবং বিভিন্ন ব্যাচের নবীন-প্রবীণ এলামনাইদের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত অংশগ্রহণে দিনটি মুখরিত হয়ে ওঠে। মুক্ত বাতাসে জলযাত্রা, স্মৃতিচারণ, চলচ্চিত্র নিয়ে আড্ডা এবং নিবিড় আন্তরিকতার মধ্য দিয়ে এই মিলনমেলা সম্পন্ন হয়।
